Forensic Consultation
Forensic consultation is a specialty within the field of neuropsychology. It is vital for a neuropsychologist to be adequately accredited (Diplomate) and have experience in the courtroom. A professional must understand the "black and white" nature of the legal system that requires a clear and specific diagnosis, as well as measurement of behavior and ability.
Neuropsychological and psychological, actuarial testing is the foremost measurement of an individual's loss of ability. Additionally, the assessment of client exaggeration of symptoms or outright lying (malingering) can be diagnosed much more effectively with psychological and neuropsychological tests.
Though half of this practice is involved in treatment or clinical evaluation, the number of situations involving medical/legal evaluation and testimony is a significant part of this business. Also, though licensed in California and Nevada, legal consultation in other states most often does not require licensure in that particular state.
During my years of experience, I have testified in deposition on well over 200 occasions. Cases that have required courtroom testimony include 26 appearances.
Independent medical evaluation (neuropsychology) performed for insurance or attorneys requires that the case be reviewed and an agreement, verbal and written, be received by my office. Please contact my office for further information.
